Welcome Page

TuxWelcome to the Mansfield Linux User Group (UK).

The group was formed in 2001 as an informal forum for Linux users in Mansfield and it’s surrounding areas. We currently have around half a dozen regular members with the odd person popping in, and many more mailing list subscribers that contribute to discussions and provide assistance through the list.

If you are a new Linux user in the area then you should sign up to our mailing list. It is on there that announcements for meetings will occur, and it is where you can start to participate in some of the discussions we have about many issues.

Don’t be afraid to post questions to the list. When you are starting out or tackling a new problem, there are no stupid questions. However, we will need information to be able to assist you so try to provide as much in the way of messages or details as you can and for our part we will try to help as much as we can and will always be courteous and considerate in our answers.

If you are a seasoned Linux user then please also sign up to the mailing list. We can all use help from time to time, and whilst as a community we are generally of a mind set where we would go and find our answers, we do still get stuck, and the smallest comment can point us in the right direction.

You can sign up to the mailing list by following this link and filling out your email address and set yourself a password. Be warned that password reminders are sent out on a monthly basis so do not use a valuable password (i.e. not your bank password!). The first couple of emails you send could get automatically stopped for moderation, so don’t worry if they do not get posted immediately – someone will release them when we get a chance.
